About Nika Atelier

Nika Atelier was founded in 2024. Rooted in contemporary ceramic artistry, my work explores themes of modern femininity, the interplay between inner and outer worlds, and the power of art as a medium for healing and collective introspection.

Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to bring both aesthetic and emotional depth into everyday spaces. My collections range from ritualware, sculptural works and decorative vessels to functional homeware such as mugs, bowls, and luminaries. By integrating glazes, fibre details, and under-glaze motifs, I create pieces that not only serve a purpose but also tell a story.

Through Nika Atelier, I invite you to experience ceramics as more than just objects—they are vessels of meaning, conversation, and connection.

About the Artist

Tanika Pietersen is a South African ceramic and multimedia artist whose work explores the intersection of form, texture, and storytelling while connecting it to elements of symbolism and psychology. She completed her degree in Multimedia Visual Arts at Unisa. With a background in design and multimedia art with over eight years of experience in the creative industry, Tanika brings a refined sense of aesthetics, composition, and craftsmanship to her ceramic practice.

Her journey into ceramics stems from a deep appreciation for tactile artistry and the meditative process of handcrafting objects. Through her brand, Nika Atelier, she creates sculptural and utilitarian ceramic pieces, often integrating fibre details to add a unique textural dimension. Her work balances functionality with artistic expression, resulting in vessels, mugs, sculptures and lighting pieces that feel both modern and timeless.

Tanika’s artistic philosophy centres around evoking curiosity and encouraging introspection. She is and advocate for mental health and is particularly drawn to themes of psychoanalytics, the divine feminine, the connection between conscious and subconscious, to exploring inner worlds, translating emotions and narratives into tangible forms. Each piece she crafts is designed to spark curiosity, comfort, and healing, celebrating the beauty of imperfection and the warmth of handmade artistry.
